VISCOSITY GRADE BITUMEN
Viscosity Grade Bitumen: Reliable, adaptable, and essential for cold climate applications.
VISCOSITY GRADE BITUMEN (VG Grade) is a classification system used to grade bitumen based on its viscosity at 60°C. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) revised the IS-73-1992 specifications to establish four grades: VG-10, VG-20, VG-30, and VG-40. In the revision, certain qualification tests such as specific gravity, water content, ductility, loss on heating, and fire's breaking point were eliminated, as they do not directly impact the product's performance.
Viscosity Grade Bitumen finds extensive use in spraying applications, particularly in surface-dressing and paving projects conducted in very cold climates. It is also utilized in the manufacturing of bitumen emulsion and modified bitumen products.
