ETHYLENE

Ethylene: Versatile chemical used in plastics, solvents, and industrial applications.

Ethene (ethylene), with the chemical formula C2H4, is a vital organic chemical produced in ASPC's olefin plant using Technip technology. It serves as the fundamental building block for a wide range of chemicals, from plastics to solvents and antifreeze solutions.

Laira Group is a customer-oriented company actively involved in supplying Ethylene to both local and international markets, aiming to support the success of our clients. For product information or placing an order, please contact our Sales team.

APPLICATIONS: Ethene is primarily used in the production of:

  • Polymers, including poly(ethene)
  • Ethylbenzene, leading to phenylethane, poly phenylethane, and polystyrene
  • Chloroethene (vinyl chloride), which is used in the production of poly chloroethene (poly vinyl chloride, PVC)
  • Other chemicals, such as epoxyethane and diols like ethane-1,2-diol
  • Ethanol, a widely used alcohol with various applications.

DO YOU KNOW?

Ethylene, known as the "ripening hormone," plays a crucial role in the ripening process of fruits. It is responsible for the change in color, texture, and aroma of fruits as they mature. Interestingly, ethylene is also produced by fruits themselves, leading to a ripening cascade where one ripe fruit can trigger the ripening of nearby fruits. This natural phenomenon is utilized in controlled ripening techniques and the transportation of fruits to ensure they reach consumers at the desired stage of ripeness.
